Researchers from the Institute of Archaeology participated in the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA), held from 26 to 29 August 2026 in Athens, Greece, one of the most significant international gatherings of professionals in the field of archaeology.
The Institute of Archaeology was represented through numerous presentations and research contributions covering a broad chronological and thematic range – from prehistory and Neolithic communities, through Roman archaeology and material culture, to medieval archaeology and bioarchaeology. Particular attention was devoted to topics in archaeobotany, archaeozoology and anthropology, the study of osseous artefacts, as well as the application of contemporary interdisciplinary methods in archaeological research.
Researchers from the Institute who presented their results or contributed as authors to research presented at the meeting included Dr Ilija Danković, Dr Milica Marjanović, Dr Danica Mihailović, Dr Selena Vitezović, Dr Nataša Miladinović-Radmilović, Dr Danica Grujić, Dr Ivana Dimitrijević, Dr Gordana Jeremić, Dr Olga Bajčev, Dr Slaviša Perić, Dr Đurđa Obradović, Dr Ružica Savić, Dr Dragana Vulović, Dr Uglješa Vojvodić, Dr Roksana Chowaniec, and Dr Milica Tapavički-Ilić.
Participation in the EAA Annual Meeting provided researchers from the Institute of Archaeology with an opportunity to present the results of their current research to the international professional community, exchange knowledge and experience with colleagues from numerous European and international institutions, and further develop international and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Of particular significance was the participation of Đurđa Obradović, who organised the session “Regulating Archaeobotany in Europe: Practices, Challenges and Perspectives,” dedicated to current practices, challenges, and future perspectives in the development of archaeobotany in Europe. In addition to oral presentations, the Institute’s research was also presented through Selena Vitezović’s poster “Technological Studies of Bone Artefacts from the Neolithic Period in the Balkans.”
