28TH BORSA MEDITERRANEA – MEDITERRANEAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOURISM EXCHANGE IN PAESTUM (ITALY)

Representatives of the Institute of Archaeology participated in the 28th Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange (Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico), held from 29 October to 1 November 2026 in Paestum, Italy. This internationally recognised event brings together professionals and institutions from the fields of archaeology, cultural heritage, tourism, and technology, providing an important platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and innovative approaches to heritage preservation, interpretation, and promotion.

The Institute of Archaeology was represented by Dr Jelena Anđelković Grašar, Dr Ljubomir Jevtović, and Stefan Stančić, MA, who presented the Institute’s diverse research activities, ongoing projects, and recent archaeological discoveries. Their participation provided an opportunity to introduce international audiences to the Institute’s scientific achievements, innovative approaches to archaeological research, and efforts to make cultural heritage more accessible and engaging for different audiences.

Particular attention was given to the international GreenHeritage project, supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, which explores the connections between cultural heritage, sustainability, education, and community engagement. The project promotes innovative educational approaches and encourages the active participation of younger generations in understanding and protecting cultural and natural heritage.

Another important focus was AMULUM, developed through the SAIGE (Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship) Project of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia. The presentation of this project highlighted the Institute’s commitment to innovation and the development of new approaches to archaeological research, heritage interpretation, and the application of contemporary technologies.

Alongside these projects, the Institute’s representatives presented recent archaeological discoveries and ongoing scientific research, demonstrating the diversity of its activities and the importance of connecting archaeological research with heritage management, public engagement, and cultural tourism.

Beyond the official programme, the event provided valuable opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and establishing new professional contacts with institutions and experts from the fields of tourism, science, and culture, opening possibilities for future partnerships and international cooperation.

Participation in the 28th Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange further strengthened the Institute of Archaeology’s visibility and international connections, reinforcing its position as an important institution in archaeological research, cultural heritage preservation, and innovation at both regional and international levels.
