Discovering life in the Neolithic Period through plant remains
Are you intrigued by the idea of finding out what plants people cultivated and ate during the Neolithic?
Our workshop allows participants to compare plant remains from Neolithic sites and seeds of modern plants, but also to see in which containers food was stored and prepared in the Neolithic. Of particular interest is the practical segment, where participants will have the opportunity to grind grains and make flour using methods from the Neolithic Period. As a souvenir, everyone will be able to take home their own unique neolithic prosopomorphic mask, which they will make themselves.
- Research segment: insight into plant remains from Neolithic sites and comparison with modern plant grains under a microscope!
- Demonstration segment
Ceramic vessels that played a major role in grain storage, but also in serving food, will be exhibited during the workshop.
- Practical segment:
Grinding grains with the help of a grinder and spreader – preparation of flour!
- Creative Segment:
Apotropaic use of prosopomorphic lids to store grains inside large storage containers – make and decorate a Neolithic prosopomorphic mask!
