Interests and methodology of research

Dr Slaviša Perić has been researching the Neolithic of the Balkans for more than 30 years, with a focus on the process of the neolithisation of the Central Balkans. Analysing archaeological material, Dr Perić has also studied the cultural-chronological relationship of the Mesolithic Lepenski Vir culture and the Starčevo culture in the locality of Lepenski Vir, as well as the questions related to the cultural and population basis on which the first Central Balkan Neolithic settlements were formed. For the last 20 years, Dr Perić has conducted intensive multidisciplinary research and, with the analyses of the results of previous excavations, has striven to understand the role of middle Pomoravlje in the Neolithisation of south-eastern Europe.
