Dancing Histor(y)ies – Final Event in Mérida
Dancing Histor(y)ies – Final Event in Mérida Marks a Two-Year European Journey
On November 13, 2025, the National Museum of Roman Art hosted the final event of the Dancing Histor(y)ies project, bringing to a close an outstanding two-year collaboration that connected archaeological sites, local communities, and contemporary dance in a shared creative dialogue.
This concluding event gathered all partners of the international consortium to celebrate the project’s achievements — strengthened cross-border cooperation, inclusive cultural practices, and innovative approaches to reinterpreting European cultural heritage through movement.
The project Dancing Histor(y)ies – Binding Communities and Heritage through Dance demonstrated how contemporary dance can open cultural spaces to communities that are often difficult to reach, creating new forms of storytelling rooted in place, memory, and participation. From Italy to Serbia, from Spain to Sweden, and from Bulgaria to Portugal, the project empowered local communities to rediscover archaeological landscapes through artistic expression.
