[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The first workshops of the Dancing Histories project was held in the Viminacium Archaeological Park between February 17th and 19th, 2024. It was organized by the Institute of Archaeology, as one of the partners in the project. The project is supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union as well as by the other national programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are pleased to inform and invite you to see <\/span>the first contemporary dance festival “Dancing Histories” <\/b>in the Archaeological Park Viminacium, that will be held on the <\/span>24-26th of June 2024.<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This festival is characterized by the co-creation of completely new productions of contemporary dance, in collaboration by international artistic partners (contemporary dance groups) and archaeological sites from the European Union: Taros and Ostia Antica (Italy), Merida (Spain), Volos (Greece) and Viminacium (Serbia), with active participation of local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The theme of this year’s “Dancing Histories” festival in Viminacium is <\/span>ReMOVING BORDERS.<\/b> In this way we want to show that together, with the combination of art, heritage and local community, we can delete each border, break down every barrier, stereotype or obstacle. By erasing the temporal, geographical, social, emotional and any other border, we want\u00a0 to make Viminacium a festival place where everyone is WELCOME.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first step towards this goal was taken during the first Dancing Histories workshop. For three days with dance groups:<\/span> 420 PEOPLE <\/b>from the Czech Republic and <\/span>Il Dance<\/b> from Sweden, more than a hundred local participants took part.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Members of local organizations: National library Ilija M. Petrovi\u0107 from Po\u017earevac, Association of artists Spektar from Kostolac, Bolero Dance Club from Po\u017earevac, Association of Successful Women of Kostolac, Psychological Center from Kostolac, School for Elementary and Secondary Music Education Stevan Mokranjac from Po\u017earevac, KUD Amaro Roma from Kostolac, and students of the Design schools from Belgrade, presented the heritage of the community, by presenting art, paintings, music, dance, storytelling as well as by visiting minority communities and discussing all of the above within the framework of the round table.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The workshop was an opportunity to define the programs of local festivals that will, with evening performances, make Viminacium a three-day, all-day festival space, open to EVERYONE. The aim of these workshops is to find a quality dialogue with the local community, and therefore expand the range of audience-visitors to places of cultural heritage, through active engagement of the performing arts.<\/span><\/p>\n
