Register to participate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on diverse professional and academic perspectives, the webinar will address the principles of architectural conservation, the role of scientific research, the study of historic materials and their interaction with the environment, as well as strategies for preserving historic buildings and extending their useful life. It will also examine the importance of hands-on training, planning, and heritage protection policies in shaping more sustainable built and natural environments.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From an interdisciplinary perspective, the webinar will explore how research and the application of solutions compatible with the materials and characteristics of historic buildings can contribute to cultural heritage protection, environmental sustainability, and contemporary development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The webinar will take place on November 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CET) and will feature presentations by four specialists:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nigel Copsey<\/strong> of <strong>Earth, Stone and Lime Company<\/strong> (United Kingdom) will discuss the relationship between conservation principles, theory, and practice, focusing on the influence of William Morris\u2019s ideas on the development of modern principles of heritage conservation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Maria Stefanidou<\/strong>, from the <strong>School of Civil Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece)<\/strong>, will analyze the importance of scientific research in the conservation of monuments and historic buildings, with a special focus on building materials and new technologies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Nikola Unkovi\u0107<\/strong>, from the <strong>Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade (Serbia)<\/strong>, will explore the biodeterioration of works of art and architecture and the possibilities offered by biological solutions for their conservation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephen Gandolfi<\/strong>, from <strong>Borgo Heritage (United Kingdom)<\/strong>, will provide an overview of British heritage legislation and the conditions that enable the application of scientific research to conservation practice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with the speakers during a question-and-answer session and take part in thematic working groups focused on the theory and practice of conservation, materials science, applied biology in heritage conservation, and collaboration in decision-making processes.
